Colander Table

colander

Colander, a table of 909 holes, is the latest project by Daniel Rohr, designed to delete space and material. Produced by way of a CNC milling process, the polished aluminium tabletop starts out at a weight of 408 kg. (899 lbs.). The space between the plate glass top and the metal bowl makes any object that is set upon the table seem to hover above it. It takes about four weeks for the production of one table, to be produced in an edition of ten.

Bose SoundDock 10

bose_sounddock10a

The Bose SoundDock 10 weighs in at 19 pounds and measure 10-inches deep, leaving room for a good-sized woofer, 52-inches of winding, integrated waveguide channels and a pair of Bose “Twiddlers” up top. The Twiddlers are a combination of highs and mids, and the new waveguide is an effort to shrink existing Bose tech down to size.

The design: The SoundDock was three years in the making, and boasts 11 new patents, as well as a slew of Bose proprietary technology advances too secret to reveal even in patents. Brings a interchangeable dock: the standard iPhone / iPod dock can be switched out for a Bluetooth receiver and docks supporting other audio players could be forthcoming based on market demand.

Rainer Mutsch’s Linea

Mutsch Linea 2

The new modular outdoor-furniture concept “Linea” designed by Vienna-based product designer Rainer Mutsch for Eternit has won the international Red Dot Design Award 2009 in the category “Public Space”.
Inspired by the production process of Eternit, Rainer Mutsch developed “Linea”, a weather-proof lounge-chair also based on fibre-concrete panels. A new moulding technique allows maximum efficiency in using this material with almost no offcuts. “Linea” gets its high stability through its freeformed geometry and its environmentally friendly cellulose inforced concrete material. The basic lounge chair element can be upgraded by an asymmetrical bench element, a leg-rest and a low-table – allowing numerous variations for private and public spaces.
